The number of people dying from overdoses in Vermont is dropping, according to the Vermont Department of Health.

The state saw a 5% drop in opioid related overdoses last year compared to 2022, according to a report.

Health officials credit the progress made to programs and harm reduction efforts.

This is the first time the state has seen the number of deaths go down since 2019, according to health leaders.
