BUHL, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Buhl senior Jackson Allen signed his National Letter of Intent on Tuesday night to run at Eastern Oregon University.

A fun athlete to watch across football and basketball through the year, but it was track that Allen felt most drawn to compete at the next level.

Allen is a multiple-time district champion along with a state champion, signing to run was everything he imagined and more.

“It’s just hard to put in to words, just feel so rewarding,” Allen told KMVT. “This has been a goal of mine my whole life to run at the next level and now that it’s all paying off. It feels great.”

Eastern Oregon is an NAIA program in La Grande, Oregon.

He noted the program was going to be a good fit since the moment he stepped on campus.

“They have nice facilities with both indoor and outdoor tracks. The coaching staff was great to be around,” Allen said. “Everything and everyone felt like home to me.”

The coaching staff talked with Allen about running a Decathalon while mainly focusing on hurdling.

Allen does the 110/300 hurdles, the long jump, and the 4x4 with the Buhl track team.

As a sophomore, he was a part of the 4x4 state winning team along with taking second in the 300-meter hurdles at the state tournament.

He’s also a two-time district champion in hurdles and a district champion in the long jump.

Many accolades and he is looking to add more, but his favorite part of the sport, is always being around his friends.

“That’s the best part, just making friendships, making bonds and just making memories with everyone,” Allen said.

Allen and the Buhl track team will be competing in the district track meet Wednesday and Thursday. He couldn’t be prouder to represent his school.

“I’m glad I got to run in black & orange. “I wouldn’t want to do this anywhere else but Buhl.”
