On July 17, Comedy Works South will host the second installment of Hairy and Hilarious, a show benefiting animals.

Last summer, comedian Bryan Kellen performed for a lively crowd at Comedy Works South at the first-ever Hairy and Hilarious event. Hosted by the Zoology Foundation, an animal sanctuary and education center in Larkspur, CO, the event helped raise awareness and funds for the center’s 150+ rescued animals and their housing. You can find out more on their website. This July, the Zoology Foundation is putting on the second installment of Hairy and Hilarious, where ventriloquist Marc Rubben will be headlining with his unique combination of stand-up comedy, audience participation, expert ventriloquism, and a colorful cast of characters! Rubben is a favorite headliner from 1800-seat theaters to cruise ships. He works in comedy clubs from coast to coast and was featured in the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen.  Also new this year, the Zoology Foundation has added an event partner. Freedom Service Dogs of America is a local nonprofit that rescues and professionally trains dogs to become service animals. For more than 30 years, the organization has been providing loyal K9 companions to those with mobility challenges, veterans and active duty military, children and teens with neuro-cognitive disabilities, and many more in need. [gallery type="rectangular" link="none" ids="35690,35691"] Dogs that don’t complete the training program due to medical conditions or behavioral issues become available for regular adoption. Imagine adopting a pooch who may have already gone through various levels of training! Learn more about the organization or adopting an animal here. Freedom Service Dogs hopes to use proceeds from the Hairy and Hilarious event to help buy a new van to rescue and transport more dogs to and from their facility. Hairy and Hilarious takes place July 17 at Comedy Works South. For more details and to buy your tickets, go here.
