Chicken chain adds its first permanent menu item since 2016.

For years, Chick-fil-A hasn't rocked the boat with its menu. Adding limited-time options, sure, but it hasn't added anything permanently for three years. But that delicious dry spell is over. Easy peasy mac n' cheesy, the eatery has made a tasty, comfort food available to the masses, just in time for fall.

"Mac & Cheese is the quintessential comfort food, and something we are so excited to offer our guests at Chick-fil-A. We think it's the perfect pairing with our Original Chicken Sandwich, nuggets and our grilled chicken offerings, but it's also great on its own as a snack," said Amanda Norris, executive director of menu and packaging.

The sensational side dish was previously being tested in only five markets, but it kicked culinary hiney and passed the tests with flying colors.

"We have a very high bar when it comes to adding a menu item," Executive Director of Menu and Packaging Amanda Norris said in a press release, "but the feedback from our customers in the test markets made this decision easy. I am excited it will be available for all of our guests across the country starting today (Aug. 12)."

According to Chick-fil-A, the side dish comes from a classic recipe, featuring a special blend of cheeses, including cheddar, parmesan, and oregano. It will be baked in the restaurant each day and is available as a side dish, a kids' entree, and a catering option.

We had the opportunity to try the new Mac & Cheese side, and we were not disappointed! Check out our review below:

And while you go to the restaurant to enjoy the new, cheesy goodness, you might as well check out its latest, limited-time treat.
