Want to add something new to your workout routine?

Sometimes your body just starts to itch for a little something different in your exercise routine. If you’ve never tried kickboxing before, that’s your "something different"! It’s a total body workout, a really fun class, and might even up your street smarts a little. Here are two cool kickboxing studios to check out in the Washington, D.C., area.

Urban Boxing

1116 24th St. NW, Washington, D.C., 20037 Washingtonian Magazine awarded this gym the Best Boxing Gym in D.C. award in 2017, so you know this place should be the first one your list to try! There’s so much flexibility here, whether you want to take a group class, personal training, or learn a specific form of boxing, like Jiu Jitsu. There’s a class every day of the week, so you can choose a time that’s convenient for you -- and the first one is free, so it’s a risk-free trial. Check out their website for more information about the gym, boxing styles, their instructors and management, and even a fitness blog. Bodysmith Gym

1630 14th St. NW, Washington, D.C., 20009 This is a great option if you want to try kickboxing within a full-service gym. Bodysmith has a wide range of unique classes, but their boxing program is fairly robust, with individualized attention and availability to take both beginner and advanced classes. Your first class is also free, and you’ll get an opportunity to check out what else they have to offer besides boxing. That’s really adding variety to your workout! And they’re located right next door to a local D.C. juicery, so you can grab a healthy snack afterwards.
