Hosted by Stephen Colbert, the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards show will be full of jokes, but who will come out on top in some of the biggest categories at this year's Emmys? And who actually deserves the top honors? Will freshman shows like "Westworld" and "This Is Us" rule the night, or will staple programs like "Veep" and "Modern Family" steal the show once again? Here are some of our predictions about the biggest night in television.

Don’t get us wrong. We love all three shows, but nothing beats the sharp writing, relevancy, and beautifully haunting directing of "Handmaid’s Tale." But I guess cute kids can trump all that.

"Atlanta" was one of the most refreshing and critically acclaimed shows that premiered this past year. While that is the more exciting choice for the trophy, the voters probably went with the staple -- but also enjoyable -- "Veep."

This is her award to lose. Moss is a favorite of the award show, being nominated several times for her role on "Mad Men." Her portrayal of Offred on the Hulu series is heartbreaking and even more impressive due to the role not being the most talkative. (One of her scene partners, Alexis Bledel, took home the award for Guest Actress in a Drama for her haunting character). If it isn’t Moss, look for Claire Foy to follow up her Golden Globe win.

This category is a bit tricky. It seems like it's going to be neck and neck with the leading men of "This Is Us" (sorry, Kevin). Brown surely gets the strongest material to work with, but Ventimiglia’s character is a favorite. A curveball may be thrown, and Matthew Rhys may actually take home the prize, but it should be between this father-son duo.

Don’t ever bet against JLD. If she wins the prize again, it will be her record sixth for the same role. Ross is her best competition, though, who brings heart and humor to her already hilarious show.

If you haven’t watched "Big Little Lies," have you lived? It has excellent acting, star-studded casts, perfect soundtrack, and of course, WOMEN HELPING WOMEN.

Riz Ahmed gave a convincing and fascinating performance as a young man convicted (wrongfully?) of murder. But it is hard to beat a heavyweight like De Niro.
