Boats and summer go together like peanut butter and jelly.

But not all boat tours are created equal. The nice thing about Washington, D.C., is that there are many cruise options available, from basic packages to very luxurious ones. It all depends on what you’re looking for! Here are three river cruises that all offer very different experiences.

Capitol River Cruises

A cruise with Capitol River Cruises is the simplest type of cruise you can take. Based out of the Georgetown Waterfront harbor at 31stand K streets NW, they offer 45-minute boat rides every hour or so for people to enjoy being out on the Potomac River and see some of the most famous D.C. monuments, like the Lincoln Memorial and Kennedy Center. The tours begin at 11 a.m. every day and run seasonally, April through October. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $7 for kids. They can be bought online, or at the cruise desk on the waterfront. Odyssey Cruises

Odyssey Cruises are the next step up in your boat game. If you want to see the sights, but you also want a true cruise experience, this is a great option for you. Choose one of the dining packages where you will “Enjoy live music, dining, and monumental views.” You can do a lunch, brunch, or dinner, as well as holiday and specialty cruises. The boats are based in The Wharf, at the southwest waterfront, and they operate year-round. Pricing varies depending on the kind of meal you’ll be having, and you can check all the prices and book tickets online here. Elite Private Yachts

If you want the ultimate in luxurious experience, then you need to give Elite Private Yachts a try. This is a good option for a big corporate event, birthday party, or even a wedding reception. You can make the entire cruise your own, from picking a custom dinner and drink menu, being able to invite 80-145 guests, and picking a boarding time that’s most convenient for you. You’ll also have two options of where to sail from: the southwest waterfront or the national harbor in Maryland. Take a look at all your package options here.
