Fall into autumn with these kid-friendly events all over Maryland!
Even though it's still blazing hot outside, it's hard not to think about fall. Kids are about to go back to school, popular coffee establishments are releasing their pumpkin spice lattes, and stores are starting to debut tall boots and chunky sweaters. If you're a parent, you may be looking ahead for some events to take your whole family to this October. We've compiled five that you won't want to miss!
Harbor Harvest Fall Children's Festival at Rash Field

Sunday, October 6, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
If you live in the city or nearby but want to feel like you've escaped to the country, this fall festival is perfect. There will be an "urban pumpkin patch, petting zoo, kids play/hay maze, professional pumpkin carving competition, bubble fairies, face painting, pumpkin decorating, pony rides, live music, food trucks, and other fun fall festivities," according to EventBrite. The festival is FREE to attend, but there is a fee for certain activities such as pony rides, train rides, and the pumpkin patch. Advance purchase tickets are available for $10 and include one pony ride, one train ride, and a pumpkin to decorate.

If you and your kids love all things Disney, be sure to check out Disney on Ice presents Roadtrip Adventures. Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy will take your whole family on a worldwide adventure that includes "visiting" London with Mary Poppins; Motunui with Moana; Africa with Simba, Timon, and Pumba; Agrabah with Aladdin, Jasmine, and Genie; and a fun carnival with Woody, Po Beep, and Forky. If that's not enough, Mickey and his friends will also introduce your little ones to some of Disney's princesses. You'll get to experience a "fun-filled getaway jam-packed with unexpected hijinks and surprise, up-close character interaction—right in your hometown!" Tickets range from $24 to $79.
Truck Touch and Fall Fest at Forest Hill Nursery School

Saturday, October 12, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
For little ones that love trucks and all things that go "vroom," this touch-a-truck event is ideal. There'll be a variety of different trucks and vehicles for your kids to touch and explore, a bake sale, local artisans, activities, and more. Adults and children under 2 are FREE, while children over 2 are $5. I've taken my own son to similar events in the past, and they're always a blast. If you have a neat vehicle that you think would make a great addition to their event, let them know!
Family Fun Day with Pam the Kindersinger at The Mall in Columbia

Pam Minor, aka "Pam the Kindersinger," is a children's entertainer who "performs fun, educational, interactive programs for children in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and beyond. Her energetic shows include singing, dancing, puppetry, and comedy!" She uses songs that get everyone involved, funny routines, and even ventriloquism to delight kids of all ages. Since it's the start of fall, she'll even incorporate a Halloween theme.
Halloween on the Farm at MARC

Friday, October 25, 6–8 p.m.
For those that like to celebrate Halloween a little early, this festive event at the Maryland Agricultural Resource Council is perfect. A list of activities includes pumpkin carving, “trunk-or-treating,” movie screening, dog costume contests, a haunted maze, and goat demonstrations. There will also be hot apple cider, a bonfire, and music. Parents and children under 2 are FREE, while children over 2 are $10. If you have a second child over the age of 2, they're only $7. The whole family is welcome to dress up in costume, and if you have a dog, you can dress them up for the costume contest! Their tentative rain date is scheduled for Saturday, October 26. You must purchase tickets ahead of time on their website.
