Better get started on your "new year, new me" resolutions list—2024 has come! Every single year (without fail), we make a list of New Year's resolutions that we want to abide by—starting January 1. We put careful consideration and thought into which resolutions we want to make, all while considering what we know we can stick with.

Is that always the case? Do we actually stick to the list or follow through? I know I don’t, so I say it's good to change up your lists every year so you can find something that you know you would want to accomplish!

7 New Year's Resolutions You Should Consider:

Break Your Smartphone Addiction

This is not necessarily one of the most popular resolutions, but it should be at the top of your list. As I walk or drive around, I see people glued to their phone's screen. Put it down and watch your surroundings—you never know what you might see!

Learn Something New

As a growing society (with an increased concentration on culture) this is a fantastic way to get to know your community. You could learn a new language, something that you have always wanted to study, or pick up a new hobby!

Volunteer

I recommend this resolution to anyone—even if you just volunteer a couple of times a month! The best part about this resolution is that you get to choose where you want to help out. From volunteering at animal shelters to helping out in the soup kitchen, this is a great way to feel like you are contributing to your city/state/community!

Read More Books

If you are a reader, this is the perfect resolution for you. I know someone who set a goal to read 150 books within one year and he successfully hit that goal—by a stretch. You can re-read some of your favorites or discover new authors—this is a resolution with endless possibilities! I suggest Audible or Google Play Books for your audiobooks or ebooks!

Hit the Gym More Often

As we all know, this is one of the most popular resolutions that (without fail) most of us always give up on by the first or second week into January. This year, try to set a goal to attend the gym three times a week (the days that work best), and then try to stick with it! This is a good resolution to keep because being a couch potato won't allow you to live longer.

Eat Healthier

Eating healthy is the next step to improving your overall health—too much junk food = a not-so-motivated life. Start with something light, and slowly incorporate more and more healthy foods, such as vegetables, chicken, and a healthy balance of fats to carbs. It's all about balance, people—don't go cold turkey right away, and instead slide your way into the food charts' DMs. It also doesn't hurt to quit drinking alcohol while you're at it.

Save More and Spend Less

This is a resolution for everyone because it could teach you things about your expenses you didn't already know. Be sure to check out Cleo—a fun and interactive way to track your budget! A bullet journal is a great way to keep track of all your spending.

New Year's resolutions range (depending on the person) from simple to complicated. Even though we may give up on some of them early on, it's important to try and stick with them. Just keep going—you can do it!
