Hampton Roads

Barks, Brews, and Boos | Big Ugly Brewing, Chesapeake | Saturday

From 5 to 8:30 p.m., hang out with other Hampton Roads residents at Big Ugly Brewing to help support PAWS of Hertford County Pet Rescue. The "Barks, Brews, and Boos" event will feature a live performance by Rachel and the JellyCats, seasonal craft brews, food trucks, and photo opportunities with the Feral Showgirls. Dogs are welcome and even encouraged—guests must be over 21. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to PAWS of Hertford County Pet Rescue to help rehome homeless dogs and cats! Battle of the Beers | Camp Pendleton, Virginia Beach | Saturday

Over 25 local breweries will gather to compete for who has the best brews in Hampton Roads. Each brewery will battle it out by the locals taste-testing their unique brews and voting on who will take home a prize. A portion of the proceeds will benefit multiple Hampton Roads-based charities. Fall Harvest Festival | Hunt Club Farm, Virginia Beach | Ongoing

Hunt Club Farm offers the best fall activities in all of Hampton Roads. From 10 am to 6 p.m., Hunt Club Farm will feature fall harvest activities for the low price of $5-$9. Families will be able to participate in a series of activities, including hayrides, pumpkin picking, a petting farm, and pony rides. During the weekends, the fall festival will also feature inflatable amusements, carnival rides, food and novelty vendors, and a DJ with music and games. Macbeth | Generic Theater | 215 Saint Pauls Blvd., Norfolk | Ongoing

The Generic Theater will be showcasing Shakespeare's darkest work just in time for the spooky season. Enjoy a production of Macbeth, a play that follows death, sacrifice, love, self-struggles, and more. Tickets are just $10 each. Read more here!

Richmond

Hansel and Gretel The Musical | Cultural Arts Center | Saturday

See this unique rendition of the classic Hansel and Gretel tale that will follow the original story but feature some unique additions: songs. Will Hansel and Gretel defeat the witch with their vocal cords or their smarts? Find out Saturday at the Cultural Arts Center. Tickets are $15 each. Check it out here!

Richmond Mac and Cheese Festival | Richmond Raceway Complex | Saturday

Top chefs, food trucks, and vendors will gather in one location to bring you over 30 different types of mac and cheese to sample, as well as crisp craft beers, wines, and ciders, and live music. Vote on who has the cheesiest mac and cheese around! Tickets are $20–$55 each. Get them here

Richmond Folk Festival | Brown's Island | Friday–Sunday

This annual event compiles several performances from different cultures into one place. Guests can participate in activities including listening to music, dance, traditional crafts, storytelling, and food. The festival is free and open to the public. Williamsburg

Colonial Ghost Tour | Duke of Gloucester St | Ongoing

For the entire month of October, tour guides will give you a supervised walk through the haunted streets of Colonial Williamsburg. Embark on a journey with real-life hauntings and possibly even see a ghost through one of the windows you pass! Tour guides will share the stories based on research gathered from legends and books connected to the past. Tickets are $13 per person. Check it out on the Colonial Ghost Tour's website.

Harvest Celebration | Wessex Lawn | Friday

Wessex Hundred Culinary Team will be serving six delicious dishes—including a biscuit flight and caramel apple bar. Guests have the option to participate in classic lawn games or sit by the bonfire and enjoy live music and a glass of a Williamsburg Winery wine. Tickets are $15-$40 each.
