Maryland schools are gearing up to begin the 2020-2021 academic year. Here's a snapshot of how they're doing it across the state.

Allegany County Public Schools will begin the fall semester virtually on September 8, using the "Schoology" learning platform.
Anne Arundel County Public Schools will employ virtual learning for the fall semester starting on September 8. An ongoing Chromebook survey is available online for families to request a loaner device if needed.

Baltimore County Public Schools will be 100-percent virtual from September 8, 2020, to January 29, 2021.

Calvert County Public Schools are opening with virtual learning, and small groups of students may need special, in-person instruction. Individual requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Caroline County Public Schools are adopting a "Virtual+" model for the first nine weeks (August 24-October 8).

Carroll County Public Schools will reopen on September 8 with an "Enhanced Virtual Learning Model" of instruction. The school system is working toward developing a hybrid model that combines in-person and online learning for their students.
Cecil County Public Schools are employing a virtual classroom model starting on September 1.
Charles County Public Schools will open with virtual learning in the first phase of a plan designed to lead to in-person classes for all students.

Dorchester County Public Schools are opening in a virtual model with the plan of working up to in-person teaching in a three-phased approach.
Frederick County Public Schools are using the "Schoology" platform for their online learning. Students can check out loaner devices and have access to internet hot spots as needed.

Howard County Public School System will have a fully virtual first semester from September 8, 2020, to January 28, 2021.

Kent County Public Schools are offering a fully virtual educational experience and are in the process of monitoring the feasibility of a hybrid model.
Montgomery County Public Schools start their academic year on August 31 with virtual learning for the first semester. Officials will continuously examine operations for possible in-person options in the second semester.

Prince George's County Public Schools will employ distance learning for the first two quarters of the academic year.
