The Awakening

You'll definitely need to work to find the perfect angle for a photo of this masterpiece, but it'll all be worth it in the end! J. Seward Johnson's The Awakening is a 72-foot sculpture -- and no, I'm not joking. Near the National Harbor waterfront, this unique piece depicts a giant trying to free himself from the earth.
Maryland's Bounty

WHERE: The steps from the Belvedere, at the end of American Way
Celebrate the history of Maryland's ties to the Bay by taking a picture at Cheryl Foster's stained glass mosaic! From left to right, there's a crab picker, two huge hands holding a crab, a black crappie fish, a captain holding a barrel of clams and oysters, and the state fish, a rockfish. And it could be a great conversation starter for those followers that have never paid much attention to our little state!
The Belvedere

Feast your eyes on Steven Weitzman's larger-than-life terrazzo mural The Belvedere. You can snap shots of the history, figures, and geography of Maryland, D.C., and Virginia, while also learning more about the local history and folklore. The Eagles

Made of stainless steel, Albert Paley's Eagles look over the river and are easy to spot. With their fourteen-feet wingspan atop two 60-foot poles, The Eagles would be a perfect backdrop for a 4th of July photo-op!
