The El Techo restaurant in Northwest D.C. will welcome nonprofit ArtLure for a music, dance, and art party on April 28.

While the District of Columbia is home to dozens of cool bars and clubs, most require a sometimes-pricey cover charge or ticket whenever musical acts are booked -- and few offer much else beyond booze and music. A Washington, D.C., nonprofit ArtLure, however, has started throwing parties that provide area music and art lovers the chance to get together and have a good time while supporting the local arts scene. ArtLure’s third event of 2018 will go down on the El Techo restaurant’s rooftop on Saturday, April 28, featuring free entry, scheduled art performances, candle-pouring, and a house music DJ -- all in an open-air venue with a fun bohemian-underground vibe.
ArtLure’s April 28 event kicks off at 5:30 p.m. and likely won’t conclude until shortly after the venue closes at 1:30 a.m. The lineup includes Flash Nightclub and U Street Music Hall-regular Charles Martin whose hypnotic house and electronic mixes should mesh well with the art performances by The Omi Experience (Naomi Christianson). [gallery type="rectangular" ids="8642,8643"] Christianson, who describes herself as a “transcriber of messages from the universe,” creates artwork that reflects a mystical, creative brilliance. Candle-pouring by Fire and Bloom likely will also further enhance the evening’s ambiance and vibe. El Techo Rooftop Lounge is located at 606 Florida Avenue NW. ArtLure is a 21-and-over event.
