The halls are alive with the sound of music!
After closing for an entire year, the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and Strathmore are back and coming alive with music thanks to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra!
On Tuesday, the BSO revealed their lineup for the 2021-2022 season, and it's highlighting the achievements of oppressed artists from the past. Called '"A Season of Discovery," the program is centered on diverse voices in musical composition and features a litany of special guests. Violinist Itzhak Perlman kicks off the season on September 11 with star-studded appearances by Renee Fleming, Rod Gilfry, and many more.

“We look forward to responsibly welcoming audiences back to our concert halls and showcasing rising and world-class conductors as we begin the exciting process of searching for our next music director,” BSO President and CEO Peter Kjome said in a public statement.
BSO officials also confirmed their search for a new music director. The multi-year process will culminate in an individual who's "a passionate advocate" of the orchestra and its values.
With over a dozen soloists, eight commissions, and three world premieres, symphony-goers can expect an exciting array of performances for all ages. There will be a showcase of composers repressed by Nazi Germany, William Dawson's 1934 opus "Negro Folk Symphony," and a new BSO Fusion series. Popular staples like Toy Story In Concert and Star Wars In Concert will be making a return, as well as child-friendly shows like Through the Telescope. Plus, the Symphony in the City event that's free and open to the public.
Despite returning to the stage, the BSO will continue offering virtual programming for subscribers and non-members through the BSO Sessions docuseries and performance live streams. COVID-19 guidelines will continue to be enforced for public health, including increased sanitation and social distancing.
