Light City will brighten up Baltimore City in the nation's only large scale international light and ideas festival.
During the first three weekends in April, Light City will light up Baltimore. The completely free festival will overtake the city and offer the approximately 450,000 attendees a mix of art, music, innovation, and community while creating a Baltimore experience that is unparalleled to any other festival produced by the city. Each weekend will focus on a different theme, allowing patrons a chance to experience the brilliance of Baltimore and showcasing the unique beauty of Charm City.
Neighborhood Lights is an artist-in-residence program, where artists in 14 Baltimore neighborhoods will create an art installation or performance art in the neighborhood in which they live. Neighborhood Lights will allow you to view the each artists creation while experiencing the uniqueness of each individual neighborhood. Light City will be illuminating Baltimore, showing the city in a totally new light.
New to Light City in 2018 is the BGE Light Art Walk. The walk is made up of 21 different light installations made by local and international artists and will be an immersive experience. The installations will be located downtown in the inner harbor by Pier 6. In addition to the visual art, Light City will host free concerts on two stages and visual performances throughout the weekend.
The Light Up the Night Stage will host regional and national acts in the inner harbor near the convention center, while the Club Light City Stage hosted by Morgan State University will showcase DJ's across the harbor by Federal Hill.

In addition to art and the community, Light City focuses on innovation, from the visual art to performance art, all the way to music, Light City cultivates innovative creators. From April 18-21, Labs@LightCity will be hosting various talks which will "explore the future of society, and every attendee will have the opportunity to learn, network and be heard."
There will be different labs, each with different themes, allowing the community to come together to discuss social and societal innovation. The Labs@LightCity will be a "pay what you can" event, creating inclusion for everyone in the community. While the event's price tag isn't fixed, it is encouraged to donate what you're able and guests must register.
