Come downtown and hop aboard the B&O Magical Holiday Express for fun with Santa and Frosty.

One of the most popular holiday events in Maryland opens for business this week. On Monday, December 2, the B&O Train Museum in Baltimore becomes B&O’s Magical Holiday Express: Tidings in Transit.

Visitors can see the roundhouse all decked out in Christmas decor, take a train ride with Frosty and Santa Claus, and view rotating holiday model train displays. Each week the museum will also feature a different region of the Baltimore-Ohio train route. A variety of special events and live entertainment will be available on the weekends.

Come and see Baltimore’s famous train museum all decorated for the holidays, complete with lights, trees, and holiday characters. Inside the roundhouse, you’ll find intricate model train displays, live entertainment, and a gingerbread house frequented by Santa and Mrs. Claus. Kids of all ages will enjoy train rides on the weekends with Santa and Frosty the Snowman. The train museum is also hosting a special princess train ride on December 28 and 29 and a special "Breakfast with Santa" on weekends through December.

In addition to all the holiday fun, visitors can learn all about the original B&O route through Tidings in Transit. The program will highlight four different regions of the original B&O route: Ohio, West Virginia, Western Maryland, and Baltimore. Visitors will learn about life on the rails in each area and have the opportunity to donate items to a local charity in exchange for $5 off admission to the museum. Check the website for a listing of the charities and items they are requesting.

Admission to B&O’s Magical Holiday Express is $20 for adults, $12 for children aged 2 to 12, and $17 for seniors. Train rides start at $3 per person, with the purchase of a general admission ticket.
