Fairfax County Police have publicized their plans to hold sobriety checkpoints this week.
The sobriety checkpoints are the department's attempt to crack down on drunk driving. The checkpoints will force cars to slow down and force drivers to interact with police so that officers can determine whether they have been drinking. According to the Fairfax County Police Department's press release, the first checkpoint was in the Falls Church area on Wednesday, August 2, 2017. On Friday August 4, 2017, Fairfax County Police will be out in the Seven Corners areas searching for drunk drivers. The checkpoint will last from 11 p.m. until 2 a.m. the following morning.

If you are going to drink, please do not drive. Don't use this to get away with drunk driving. With ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft, there's no longer any excuse to get behind the wheel drunk.
