After 23 years, the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Foundation has announced that they will be closing.

The Rocky Mountain Wildlife Foundation (RMWF) is a well-loved wolf sanctuary in Guffey, Colorado, and it has been a favorite stop for wildlife lovers for the past 23 years. They have recently announced on their Facebook page that they will be closing for good at the end of this December, due to the age of the owners.

The wolves will still have a great home, so don't fret, as the furry friends will be transferred to a non-profit in the Sedalia area, named Mattersville. According to their post, "This non-profit works with people with PTSD and military that are being deployed to provide a home for their dogs while they are away." The non-profit hopes to use the wolves to aide them in their mission.

Mattersville has also mentioned that they will be doing tours, so you will still have the opportunity to meet with the wolves and wolf dogs. 

The RMWF has largely relied on volunteers, and they have extended their thanks to them as well. "We thank all of you who have visited or volunteered over the 23 years Mark has been working with wolves and have been so supportive of all the work he has done. You are in our hearts forever."

This is not to be confused with the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center in Divide. This wolf sanctuary is still open to visitors.
