The Rockies' young shortstop has made quite a name for himself as he enters his second major-league season, and it has many fans wondering if Trevor Story has what it takes to fill the big shoes left by Troy Tulowitzki.
After six consecutive losing seasons, the Rockies are in desperate need of a winning season. After all, it
has been 10 years since Rocktober! We think it's time for a win, don't you?
In order for this to become a reality, the Rockies will need Story to pick up where he left off last year – 27 home runs in 97 games, before his rookie season was cut short due to a torn ligament in his left thumb. Standing at six-foot-two and 217 pounds, Story is out to prove that 2016 was not a fluke. Even though he still has a lot to prove, his teammates are confident in Story establishing himself as a player.
"I think the way Trevor played last year, and the way he works so hard at his game, tells you he can," said second baseman DJ LeMahieu.
Rockies manager Bud Black is also anticipating huge things from the shortstop. "Talented. I like the defense. I like the arm. There is a lot to like, but he's still growing as a player and there are things he will continue to improve on."
Story is looking to cut down on his high number of strikeouts, with 31.3 percent of his at-bats last year.
