Casa Bonita-themed art show is now open at Lakewood’s NEXT Gallery.

Everyone’s favorite(?) Denver landmark/restaurant has inspired a lot of things over the years: the wonder of a child, a love for sopapillas, indigestion from the rest of the food, impatience while waiting in line, claustrophobia in Black Bart’s Hideout.

Now, it is inspiring imaginations.

The Pretty in Pink art show, which opened Feb. 22 at Lakewood’s NEXT Gallery, takes the West Colfax eatery to a whole new level. Featuring around 50 pieces of work from 34 artists, you’ll see paintings, ceramics, drawings, sculptures, and more, all inspired by Casa Bonita.

NEXT Gallery started hosting Casa Bonita-themed shows in 2017 after it moved about a half-block away from the restaurant. The gallery is a co-op driven and operated by artist members. It was previously located in the Navajo Streets Art District.

When you are basically a neighbor to one of Denver’s most-known attractions, it would be a huge miss not to give it some love. So what might you see at this all-things-Casa-Bonita showing of artistic talent? Cliff diver homages, the color pink (in reference to the restaurants exterior), and much more.

"We are so excited about our upcoming Casa Bonita show,” says the gallery's Facebook page. "The show will be juried by Andrew Novick and Betsy Rudolph and will feature a number of artists from near and far.”

If you’re a fan of the pink-towered eatery, or just enjoy great art inspired by a local landmark, this show is a must-see. You can stop by the NEXT gallery until March 10 to view Pretty in Pink.
