The Colorado Department of Transportation has announced that its new bus system will be expanding, with services between Pueblo and Lamar starting on January 2.

Bustang, CDOT's new bus system, will be expanding to southeastern Colorado. Starting on January 2, the service will provide transportation to communities along U.S. 50 between Lamar and Pueblo.
"When we launched Bustang, it introduced a new era in the state's transportation system... Linking the rural areas of the state will provide a vital service for those who need or want the amenities that larger communities provide." - CDOT Executive Director Michael Lewis, Denver Business Journal.
Called Outrider, it will run similarly to already existing lines that take passengers between Denver and Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Glenwood Springs. It will have 38 seats, as well as restrooms, bike racks, free Wi-Fi (where service is available), power outlets and USB ports.
Outrider will run once in a day in each direction from Monday to Friday. The bus departing from Lamar to Pueblo will leave at 7:10 a.m. and Pueblo to Lamar at 3:45 p.m. The trip will take roughly three hours and is expected to make stops in Fort Lyons, Las Animas, La Junta, Swink, Rocky Ford, Manzanola and Fowler. Bus fares cost $21 for a one-way trip between Pueblo and Lamar. CDOT wants to eventually expand Outrider in the summer of 2018, including trips between Alamosa and Pueblo; Gunnison and Denver; and Durango and Grand Junction.
