City Park Jazz is a celebration of community!
City Park Jazz returns for the summer of 2021 for its 35th season, beginning on June 13. The 2021 season will feature nine shows, free of charge, on Sunday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The only exception will be June 20, when the performances will occur from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
In 2020, the City Park Jazz season was cut short and moved to online platforms due to concerns from the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, a year later with vaccination numbers increasing and Denver moving to Level Clear, the jazz music event can come back to the City Park Pavilion.
“We couldn’t be more excited right now,” says Andy Bercaw, President of the City Park Jazz Board of Directors. “But Denver’s been on their game, getting vaccinated and pulling together as a community to lift each other up—and that’s what City Park Jazz is, after all: a celebration of community.”
The lineup this year features the popular Brass Band Extravaganza on June 20. Additionally, the Celebration of Denver Jazz Heritage will feature El Chapultepec All Stars on July 25. The show will also celebrate jazz legends like Freddy Rodriguez Sr. who passed away from COVID-19 in March 2020. His son, Freddy Rodriguez Jr., will perform as a tribute.
