Enjoy a day commemorating and honoring the veterans and history of World Wars I and II.

Colonial Beach, Virginia, is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of World War I and the 75th Anniversary of World War II by holding a special day-long event this summer. The Commemoration Day on July 20 will memorialize and commemorate the history of the wars, as well as honor veterans and give back to charity. 

WHEN: Saturday, July 20, 2019 | 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
WHERE: Town Hill | 27 Colonial Ave., Colonial Beach, VA 22443

The event will be a fun-filled day with well-planned activities that will test your knowledge of the history of the wars, honor the memory of the fallen heroes, honor the living veterans, and commemorate the sacrifices and contributions from the civilians that went into the wars.

What to Expect 

This event is free and open to the public, so anyone can go, even your children.

  • Opening ceremony with color guard, flag-raising, ceremonial band, and VIP guest speakers
  • Education sessions and discussions with historians
  • The Flying Circuit Air Show

No refreshments will be offered at this event, so it is recommended to bring some snacks and some water with you to stay hydrated. The event will be outdoors so please wear sunscreen to avoid getting a sunburn. 

Later in the evening, there will be a Dinner and Swing Dance Gala starting at 6:30 p.m. The dance and dinner is a part of the WWI and WWII Commemoration Day celebration to continue honoring the veterans and the history of the wars.
