Grace Potter, Beach Boys, Sturgill Simpson, and others will perform at D.C.'s waterfront music venue this year.
There's so much to look forward to in 2020, and live music is at the top of our list. While much more will be announced throughout the year, The Anthem's already accumulated quite the lineup. There's Americana folk, jazz, and psych-rock on this list alone, as well as a mix of headliners and indie artists building up momentum. Here are some highlights to look forward to at D.C.'s preeminent waterfront venue in 2020.

Grace Potter | January 25 | Doors 6:30 p.m. | Show 8 p.m.
The blueswoman endured a volatile time of heartbreak with the dissolution of both her band The Nocturnals and her marriage; it was uncertain whether she'd continue making music. Now she's back with her solo record Daylight, which she'll tour starting January 8 in Charleston, South Carolina. Witness the songwriter strike an unshakeable balance of power and vulnerability as she shocks with "Love Is Love," "Back To Me," and the show-stopping title track. When two musical minds meet, the result can be extraordinary. Case in point: Calexico and Iron & Wine. The elusive songwriter and Americana group meld their respective talents on the 2005 EP In The Reins, and now their joint effort Years To Burn showcases the satisfying fruits of their hard-worked labor. Sturgill Simpson: A Good Look'n Tour w/Special Guest Tyler Childers | March 15-16 | Doors 6 p.m. | Show 7:30 p.m.
Two of country music's rising stars are teaming up for a tour for the ages. For two days, Sturgill Simpson and Tyler Childers will rock the Anthem's stages with their modern brand of outlaw country, bluegrass, and folk. Both are touring off their latest releases, Simpson's Sound & Fury and Childers' Country Squire, so music fans are in for a great show with a pair of artists at the height of their powers—and the promise of more to come. The Beach Boys | April 7 | Doors 6:30 p.m. | Show 8 p.m.
Those pitch-perfect harmonies. Those legendary songs: "Kokomo." "Good Vibrations." "Surfin' USA." The Beach Boys are as American as apple pie, and this April you can feel some California sunshine with a memorable show at the Anthem. Those who say rock is dead have not heard King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. With dozens of critically-acclaimed albums under their belt, they've toured the globe with their quirky brand of psychedelic rock, boogie-woogie, and everything in between. Now they're heading to the Anthem in support of Fishing for Fishies and Infest the Rats' Nest both from 2019. With their lightning-speed riffs and fuzzed-out effects, audiences will leave with their minds blown. Melbourne songwriter Leah Senior, who's also on King Gizz's indie label, will open the show. DC JazzFest | June 20–21 | Doors 6:30 p.m. | Show 8 p.m.
One of the District's biggest festivals featuring hundreds of artists, D.C. JazzFest will conclude its 10-day run at a special finale at The Wharf and Anthem. Witness an array of jazz luminaries take the stage and showcase their talent within a purely American genre. The lineup is pending, so keep your eyes peeled for updates—2019's highlights included Joshua Redman Quartet with Aaron Goldberg, Allyn Johnson & Sonic Sanctuary, and Cecile McLorin Salvant.
