This weekend, June 23-25, the Baltimore Comedy Factory will be hosting a show by actor and comedian Craig Robinson!
Robinson made his TV debut on the Emmy-winning American sitcom, "The Office" (2005 - 2013), as Darryl, a warehouse manager at the Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. During this run he was featured in such Seth Rogen tent-poles as Knocked Up (2007), Pineapple Express (2008), and Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008), as well as other films like Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009) and Shrek Forever After (2010). In 2010, he nailed his first starring film role in Steve Pink's Hot Tub Time Machin, and has since gone on to play larger roles in box-office hits like This is the End (2013) and, most recently, Sausage Party (2016). What fans may not have known about Robinson is his background outside of showbiz. Before his Dunder-Mifflin days, he supported his comedy career by working as a K-8 teacher for the Chicago Public School System. Imagine seeing your seventh grade English teacher as a talking box of grits!
After teaching, he joined the national comedy circuit via the 1998 Montreal "Just for Laughs" Festival and even won an Oakland Comedy Festival Award later that same year. Soon he was performing on "The Jimmy Kimmel Show" and "Real Time with Bill Maher" (way before that infamous n-word gaffe), which granted him enough celebrity to headline festivals across the country.
It was during this touring and time on "The Office" that he caught the attention of Judd Apatow, who would go on to cast him in the aforementioned litany of comedies that have since become modern classics in the genre.
