According to the website, the furnace has been around since the 1800s and was the center of a town funded by the Maryland Iron Company that thrived on the iron business until they went bankrupt. Afterwards, all the residents left, and by the early 1900s, all that was left of the town was the furnace and some building foundations. However, that changed when the restoration of the town began. Visitors can go on tours of the restored town, learn about the history of the place, watch as artisans dressed in 17th-century costumes perform the professions that were in the town, or attend special events throughout the year! Talk about a blast to the past -- it's amazing to see history right in front of your eyes!

Purnell Museum is situated within the town of Snow Hill and has been around since the 1940s. The museum started as a tribute to the needle art of its namesake. But, over time, the museum began to expand beyond Julia A. Purnell's work, collecting old toys, tools, machines, books, clothing, and more. Now, the museum has amassed quite the array of artifacts, so they rotate them in unique exhibits! Visitors can see objects that focus on the Native American tribe that was in the area, or they can view items that explore the Victorian era. You can always see something new and take some interesting facts with you when you go!
