No New Year's Eve fireworks in Denver to send 2020 packing.

The Downtown Denver Partnership (DDP) announced that they will not be hosting the annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks display that usually sets off along the 16th Street Mall.

“Though we regret to inform that our annual New Year’s Eve Fireworks won’t take place this year, we are looking forward to announcing an array of winter festivities that put a new spin on old traditions, introduce new, socially-safe ways to celebrate the holiday season and enliven downtown with magical things to do and see at every turn November through January,” writes DDP in a statement.

The New Year’s Eve event is a tradition for many Denverites, as thousands flock downtown to watch the sky light up and welcome in the new year. There are normally two shows, one at 9 p.m. for families and then the midnight show. RTD usually offers free bus and light rail service.

DDP is a non-profit business organization with over 700 members that works to keep Downton Denver a vibrant center city and sponsors. They sponsor hundreds of programs and events every year that work to keep the downtown area economically resilient and to support small businesses.

While this show may be canceled, there's still a lot to do this year in Denver for the winter holiday season. The Dillon Ice Castles are now open for the season and will likely be a popular draw for people throughout Colorado.
