Washington, D.C., is chock-full of free music in the summertime, and the Jazz in the Garden series is one of the largest and best gatherings in the city.
Jazz in the Garden runs from May to August. Here's everything you need to know. The Smithsonian National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden puts on a music series that runs each Friday, from May 18 to August 24, after 5 p.m. Because it’s totally free to attend, seating does tend to fill up pretty early! So make sure you get there a good time to grab a spot. While the music is always live -- and always jazz -- the style of musician varies greatly. You can check out the calendar for the 2018 schedule of performers. Concessions and beverages can be purchased at the Pavilion Café or one of the many carts located throughout the garden. Sangria pitchers are incredibly popular and the perfect thing to share with friends. Again, because it does get really busy, make sure you’re prepared to wait in a few lines.
