Free entry days and more await you!

National parks have been popular places in the past year. The National Park Service is encouraging all Americans to visit and learn about the parks during National Park Week, Saturday, April 17, to Sunday, April 25. The annual event includes free entry days, themed days, and virtual experiences.

The park service has just launched a new mobile app that helps visitors find and navigate America’s 423 treasured national parks.

National Park kicked off on April 17 with a free entry and parking day at all National Parks across the country. Each park will host events for the theme of the day and everyone can share in the fun with virtual activities at nps.gov. Visit the National Park Week page to learn more about each themed day.

  • April 17 – Park free & free entry day
  • April  18 – Volunteer Sunday
  • April  19 – Military Monday
  • April  20 – Transformation Tuesday
  • April  21 – Way back Wednesday
  • April  22 – Earth Day

Just in time for National Park Week, the newly launched mobile app will help visitors find parks nearby and plan a trip with ease.

“National Park Week is a time for us to celebrate national parks and experience them in new ways,” said Deputy Director Shawn Benge. “We hope that visitors will recognize this opportunity to use the NPS App to discover their next national park adventure and learn more about these incredibly special places.”

The National Parks Service app has trail maps, location guides, and self-guided tours. Users can even create virtual photo postcards to share with friends and family. The app is available for iOS and Android devices and users can download information to the app in advance so it can be used inside the parks without internet access.
