You read that right – Houseplants are the hottest thing around right now. Forget unicorn floats and rainbow bagels; you're not worth following if you don't have a Monstera deliciosa front and center on your reclaimed barn wood coffee table!

Houseplants have been around forever, but YouTube has made them the next internet craze. I won't even attribute this to just millennials, though, they do take it to a WHOLE new level. Many of the experts have been nurturing their collections for decades but now finally have a global platform. If you're interested in beautifying your space, cleaning your air, or just want to know what the kids are up to these days, take a look at some of these channels.

Planterina

This YouTuber definitely knows her stuff. At times, her hippie vibe can wander off into rambling musings, but her channel will have videos on absolutely every topic you can dream up. Her recent posts have shown off a greenhouse in Florida where she is working on propagating some of her prized plants, and she'll be opening an online store soon. She's definitely one to keep an eye on if you want to start your own collection.

Julie Nicole

There's something very calming about Julie's presentation style and the simplicity of her home. If you start with her earliest videos, you'll see that she starts off with a very small collection of common plants – like African violets – and branches off from there. Her aesthetic is very simple, and her collection doesn't feel as overwhelming as some of the others.

Summer Rayne Oakes

Any plant roundup will mention, if not feature, Summer Rayne Oakes. She's a world-famous model with an outrageous New York apartment jungle and is known as an expert on urban indoor gardens. Personally, I find her setup waaay over the top, and I can only watch her in small doses. She has over 1,100 plants, and the thought of watering all of them is borderline panic-inducing to me.

Her first plant book, How to Make Plants Love You: Cultivate Green Space in Your Home and Heart, is available for purchase now.

Crazy Plant Guy

It's not just your imagination; there are definitely more women than men in the houseplant game. One exception, Crazy Plant Guy, has a great collection and a very friendly demeanor. He keeps track of prices and vendors to give you an idea of where to get the same plants, and he's no plant snob. Many of his favorites come from discount stores and box stores.

Keep in mind: Once you start watching these videos, your houseplant collection may start to grow exponentially. Before you dive in and try making your own plant videos, take your time and really research what will work best in your region. Long winters can be pretty devastating to some of the tropical varieties. There, you've been warned!

What do you think about these YouTube houseplant celebrities – do you find them fascinating or just obsessed? Maybe they're a little of both? Let us know in the comments!
