The thought of unplugging in a national park and get paid $1,000? Sign me up!

It's never been easier to stay connected. As long as you have battery life and WiFi, you're connected to loved ones as well as Netflix, Instagram, Hulu, Facebook, and a flood of networks and streaming sites. Could it be we're too connected? A dinner with friends now includes selfies and an enticing plate pic to share on Instagram. The flexibility of working remotely now means responding to emails and a client's questions after hours.

And in 2020, we're even more dependent on screens with companies offering work-from-home status and schools moving to remote learning for students. Technology and screen time can take their tolls. Even Harvard Business Review provides ideas to combat Zoom fatigue (including limiting screen time). While SatelliteInternet.com is dedicated to researching and finding the best connectivity options for people living in rural areas, small towns, and underserved areas, they wanted to provide an opportunity for someone to get away and truly unplug.

SatelliteInternet.com is offering the Digital Detox Challenge where you can get paid $1,000 to disconnect in an RV for a weekend. When was the last time you spent 48 hours without your phone or any technology? Do you keep track of your own screen time? This might be your chance to experience unplugging and truly connecting with nature.

How does it work?

One person will be chosen at random to receive $1,000 to give up technology and camp for two nights in an RV at a national park of his or her choosing. If chosen as the winner, you'll rent an RV (reimbursed by SatelliteInternet.com) and choose two nights that work for you to head to the national park.

With more than 419 national park sites, monuments, and nationally protected lands in the United States, you have plenty to choose from. Select a national park that's close to you or one you've always wanted to explore. The National Park Service offers a handy guide to find a park that fits your needs and desires.

After the two nights (and after you're back connected to civilization), you will share your experience with SatelliteInternet.com. All you have to do to get your shot at the prize is to sign up here. A winner will be randomly selected on September 23, 2020 (and must respond by September 30, 2020). Check out the contest site for further details.

What's the catch?

As you sign up, you'll provide basic information (name, state, email address, and nearest national park). You'll also be invited to opt-in to receive emails from SatelliteInternet.com. Only those who are at least 25 years old, eligible to work in the United States, and legally able to drive in all of the states of your journey can enter. You don't even need to be an avid outdoorsman ... just someone looking to head to the great outdoors.

"The catch is that you won’t be able to capture Instagram-worthy shots on your phone or tweet about how fresh the smell of pine is—no technology allowed beyond what you need to reach your destination safely (at least until the third night)," shares SatelliteInternet.com.

So what are you waiting for?

It's like you're getting paid to escape and get a recharge. If you are Zoomed out, find yourself looking down at your phone instead of into the eyes of a friend, or simply want to be present (really present) in nature, this is for you. Sign up today and prepare for your digital detox this fall. If you're the winner, let us know in the comments before you head out on your digital detox.

Even if you're not the winner, anyone up for planning your own digital detox? Let us know how it goes.
