Consider this an open letter of encouragement to all resolutioners who are heading back to the gym for the first time in ages. Go on with your bad selves!

Every year, people head to rec centers, gyms, and trails to try and get back in shape. These folks are affectionately referred to in the gym community as "resolutioners."

According to Noobgains.com, 80 percent of people who join the gym in January quit within five months. You know what that means, though? You could be part of the 20 percent who don't give up! About 56 percent of regular gym clients don't like resolutioners. Others are totally cool with you.

For those that grumble about you, it's probably due to some perceived lapse in gym etiquette. Wipe your equipment down, put things away, and for Pete's sake, spitting is NOT okay.

Bottom line, you have every right to be at that gym. You're paying your dues and are trying to get in better shape. Everyone there had to start at some point in time!

Before you know it, you'll be a regular at the gym, hopefully encouraging the resolutioners next year.

Are you heading back to the gym for the first time in a while? What are your thoughts on the resolutioner trend? Sound off in the comments!
