The puppy fell about 15 feet and became stuck on a ledge.

On Saturday afternoon, a group of friends set out to hike Bridal Veil Falls in Telluride, Colorado. One of the friend's three-month-old puppy fell about 15 feet and was stuck on a ledge. Other friends in the group jumped in to attempt a rescue.

One friend, a young man, scrambled down to the bottom in efforts to wait and catch the puppy if it fell further. Another friend, a 25-year-old woman from Denver, navigated her way to near the puppy, lost her footing, and fell 30 feet.

The man waiting at the bottom broke her fall and slid another 20 feet on the vertical scree field.

First responders were dispatched around 11:30 a.m. After the woman's safe rescue, first responders turned their attention to the puppy, which was uninjured.

"One of our newest rescuers, a recent graduate of Telluride High School and skilled rock climber, reached "Blue" the puppy via the rigged ropes, placed her in a harness, and brought her safely to her owner. The puppy was uninjured." 

The female hiker sustained serious (non-life-threatening) injuries and was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. The male hiker sustained minor injuries and has been released.

According to All Trails, Bridal Veil Falls Trail is a "4.8 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Telluride, Colorado, featuring a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, mountain biking, and ohv/off road driving and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash."
