IHOP has decided to temporarily change its branding to “IHOb.”
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, then you’ve probably heard about IHOP’s ridiculous publicity stunt. If not, let us fill you in. IHOP (You know, the place famously known for its fluffy pancakes and sticky maple syrup?) decided to swap out the “P” in its name for a lowercase “b.” Don’t worry, we’re confused, too. On Monday, June 11, IHOP (excuse us, IHOb) announced that the “b” in the company’s new name stands for “burgers.” Sounds crazy, right? Apparently, the risky switch from pancakes to burgers came after Dine Grand Global (IHOb’s parent company) noticed a 1.9 percent decline in sales. To fix this, the brand is rolling out an all-new steakburger menu. [embed]https://twitter.com/IHOb/status/1006264816191852544[/embed] "Everyone knows that IHOP makes world-famous pancakes, so we felt like the best way to convince them that we are as serious about our new line of Ultimate Steakburgers as we are about our pancakes was to change our name to IHOb," Brad Haley, chief marketing officer for IHOb restaurants, said in a statement.
The new lineup will include seven different specialty steakburgers, including Jalapeño Kick, a spicy blend of sautéed jalapeños, Serrano peppers, onion, custom-cured hickory-smoked bacon, Pepper-Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and jalapeño mayo; Mushroom & Swiss, a blend of sautéed mushrooms and onions, Swiss cheese, and creamy mayo; Cowboy BBQ, two thick, crispy onion rings, custom-cured hickory-smoked bacon, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a tangy BBQ sauce; Big Brunch, IHOb’s custom-cured, hickory-smoked bacon, a fried egg, a crispy browned potato, American cheese, and a delicious new signature Steakburger sauce; Mega Monster, two premium Steakburger patties, American and White Cheddar cheeses, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and the brand’s signature sauce; The Classic, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and the brand’s new signature Steakburger sauce, and The Classic With Bacon, custom-cured hickory-smoked bacon, melting American cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles, and the brand’s signature Steakburger sauce.
