If you're like many people in the nation’s capital, then you are planning to spend the Fourth of July partying and celebrating. Party responsibly with free Lyft rides on the Fourth of July.

This special offer is brought to Washington, D.C., residents by the nonprofit organization Washington Regional Alcohol Program. They partnered with the ridesharing app to prevent drunk driving and ensure everyone has a fun and safe holiday.

How does it work?

To claim your free ride, just download the Lyft app and enter the promo code into the app. The promo code will be available on soberride.com after 5 p.m. on the Fourth of July and will be valid from 7 p.m. on July 4 until 4 a.m. on July 5. The promo code will cover the first $15 of your trip, so if you're traveling longer be prepared to pay a little.

Washington Regional Alcohol Program’s SoberRide program has provided rides for 72,377 since 1991.

“Over forty-percent (41%) of all U.S. traffic fatalities during the Independence Day holiday in 2016 involved drunk drivers according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,” said Kurt Gregory Erickson, WRAP’s President. “Worse, two-thirds of those killed in drunk driving crashes during the 2016 Independence Day period had BACs of .15 or higher.”

SoberRide also helps give safe rides for Saint Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Halloween, and the winter holidays.

Take advantage of this great opportunity to protect yourself and others on the road.
