A technology business start-up is bringing a car vending machine, used for buying new cars, to the DMV area!
Buying a new car is a stressful and complicated process. Between deciding whether to buy from a dealer or individual, looking at all the cars, and then negotiating a price, the car buying process is a pain! Now a car vending machine is coming to Maryland to try and make getting a new car easier and more seamless. So, what exactly is a car vending machine? It's exactly what it sounds like! Carvana, a technology business start-up, has created a large eight-story glass building that holds up to 30 vehicles that buyers can pick their car up from. According to their website, buyers can look for cars online and then purchase the car online through a financial institution, whether via financing option or full payment. You sign all the paperwork online and do not have to leave your house to buy the car. The process can take as little as 10 minutes. If you don't want the car delivered to you, you can head over to the car vending machine and pick up your new vehicle. Once you arrive to pick up your car, an employee gives you a one-of-a-kind coin to put into the machine to dispense your new car.
Buyers get a seven-day window to decide if they want to return the car or not. If you're in a pinch, you can pick up your car in as little as 24 hours.
Gaithersburg, Maryland, is now the tenth location of car vending machines. Machines already exist in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Nashville, Raleigh, Charlotte, Jacksonville, and Tampa.
“Washington, D.C., residents have welcomed the new way to buy a car for nearly two years,” said Ernie Garcia, founder and CEO of Carvana. “Growing our presence on the East Coast is a great way to kick off the summer. We’re looking forward to bringing the fun car-buying experience we’re known for to even more people in the area.”
The vending machine is located at 15710 Shady Grove Road, Gaithersburg, Maryland, and is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
