"We need everyone working together to reverse this trend," said Hancock on Friday morning.

Mayor Michael Hancock has announced a new public health order for Denver and Denver County on Friday, which is set to go into effect on Sunday. The "Home by 10" order will see Denver residents staying home and non-essential businesses closing from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

"This is not about enforcement. This is about saving lives," said Mayor Hancock.

The order will be in effect for at least the next 30 days, according to the mayor.

The order states the following:

• Liquor stores will be required to close at 10 p.m.
• People will need to be home from restaurants by 10 p.m.
• This does not extend to essential businesses (i.e., grocery stores, pharmacies, and hospitals)

“We are not trying to implement a curfew. We are asking people to do their part in saving lives,” said Hancock. "Our goal is to avoid another stay-at-home order, if possible."
