Colorado will experience a dazzling display of meteor showers.

Meteor showers will be on full display from tonight until Thursday morning, October 9-10, as the Draconid and Southern Taurids join forces and reach their peaks.

First up is the Draconid meteor shower, a celestial event that takes place when Earth crosses the orbit of Comet 21P/Giacoboni-Zinner. The comet leaves behind debris, which eventually crashes into the Earth's atmosphere, burning up and creating the sensational meteor shower. The shower peaked last night, but you may still see a few meteors. A way to look for the meteor shower is to spot the constellation Draco the Dragon.

Next up in the meteor shower display is the Southern Taurids. The best night to watch will be tonight into tomorrow morning. The showers might look more intense since they're overlapping, as viewers will get to see meteors from both celestial events.

The Southern Taurids will produce approximately 5-10 meteors per hour. However, it's important to note that the moon's brightness might wash out the visibility of the shower since it will be close to full.

Later in October, the skies will light up with a third meteor shower, the Orionids, which are estimated to peak from October 22-23.

What do you think? Will you be keeping an eye towards the skies tonight and tomorrow morning for the meteor showers? Let us know in the comments below.
