Netflix has just released its 20 most binged tv shows. Here's the list of, not necessarily the most popular, but the ones most likely to have you hooked from the get-go.
We've all done it. Emerged from a blanket exactly one week after starting a new series, wondering what actually happened in the real world while you were immersed in the show. You might be confused when you look at a calendar. "Did I even go to work? Does watching Mad Men count as work? Am I an employee of an advertising agency in the 1960's?" Maybe you are, or maybe you just like to binge shows from start to finish. It's okay. We've all been there. This list in particular refers to "binge racers." According to Parade,Here are Netflix's 20 most binged. These 'binge racers,' as streaming site Netflix calls them, are viewers who bolt through an entire season of a show within 24 hours of its release, some hoping to be among the first in the world to finish the show. According to the company, 8.4 million subscribers have binge raced..."
Master of None
Starting out the list is Aziz Ansari's autobiographical dramedy. Where we all wanted more Tom backstory in Parks & Rec, this show fills that void. Here's the trailer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGE-Mw-YjskChewing Gum
A sitcom based in London, this is the story of a 24-year old virgin who is trying to find her way in the world. It was written by and stars Michaela Coel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpm3UcJd3noGlow
Glow (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) is a fictional foray into the world of women's wrestling. It tells the story of Ruth Wilder and describes the very real woman's wrestling circuit in the 1980's. A feminist favorite, anybody can enjoy the humor and realistic action scenes in this Netflix Original. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnKEoXbBTEwLOVE
Watch Gus and Mickey try to figure out what love is. It's Judd Apatow but in TV form! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ym3LoSj9Xj8House of Cards
One of my favorites; Kevin Spacey completely kills his lead role. Aimed at illustrating the corruption inherent in politics, it only keeps getting more intense as you binge it. Robin Wright also kills as Claire Underwood. Just watch it, you won't regret it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULwUzF1q5w4Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Kimmy, played by Ellie Ember, is rescued from a doomsday cult that she endured for 15 years. She gets a rude awakening in New York City figuring out what the world really is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwiVPkwY2ZEWet, Hot, American Summer
This is the prequel to everybody's favorite early 2000's comedy of the same name. It's the first day of camp! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLlMTn_JzokGrace and Frankie
Lily Tomlin! Jane Fonda! It was created by Marta Kauffman (who you may know from Friends). The story starts out when Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin) are left by their husbands who have come out of the closet together. Can these 70-somethings learn how to be single and ready to mingle at this age? This show is funny for everyone, so don't be perturbed by the target age group. It's like a modern-day Golden Girls. Lily Tomlin shines like in Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In again. And she's a Michigan native! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CDv6PRi1SgQAtypical
This show shows what it's like to live and date on the Autism spectrum. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieHh4U-QYwUFriends from College
40-somethings who went to Harvard years ago join together in this comedy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SWUBRto1WZQStranger Things
I love Stranger Things! Starring Winona Ryder in one of her best roles to date, this show follows a few different groups as they attempt to find the children that go missing in their small town. Can a stranger to town save them all? Can you make it back from "The Upside Down?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWxyRG_tckYOrange is the New Black
This prison comedy has preceded itself. This show was one of the first Netflix originals. Did this show create the term "Binge-racing?" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzJATbm8U98F is for Family
Inspired by comedian Bill Burr's real life, this animated favorite is set in the 1970's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFzrvMS6P8gTrailer Park Boys
"It's just me and the liquor now, Randy." RIP John Dunsworth. You really were "the liquor." Watch these "trailer park boys" try to become kings of their park. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7-iA0D9lPYSanta Clarita Diet
Drew Barrymore is a zombie in suburbia. Need I say more? It's returning for a second season. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjRnbOgoAUQThe Ranch
A "That 70's Show" reunion of sorts. According to MLive,Set in the present day on a Colorado ranch, this show follows Ashton Kutcher as Colt, a failed semi-pro football player who returns home to run the family ranching business with his older brother and father whom he hasn't seen in 15 years."
