What should you do if you think you may have been exposed?

If you have received two doses of the MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine, you should be fine. If not, contact your physician or local health department to get the proper doses of the vaccine. Symptoms of the measles virus may not appear for up to 10 days after exposure. It starts with a fever, runny nose, cough, and redness around the eyes. Spots will start to appear around the three- to seven-day range. If you have symptoms of the measles, stay home and call ahead before visiting your doctor, hospital, or quick care center.
