Tyler Polumbus rode 166 times around Empower Field at Mile High and more than doubled his fundraising goal to fight ovarian cancer.

Pedal With Polumbus raised more than $42,000, more than double the original goal of the event, to raise awareness for ovarian cancer.

On September 19, former Denver Broncos lineman Tyler Polumbus cycled 100 miles around Empower Field to raise money to benefit the Colorado Ovarian Cancer Alliance. Polumbus took on the challenge in memory of his mom, who passed away in April after a six-year battle with the disease.

To complete 100 miles, Polumbus rode his bike around Empower Field at Mile High 166 times.

Following the successful event, Polumbus took to Twitter to thank a host of people who made the event happen, including his co-workers at 104.3 The Fan, the Denver Broncos organization, his family, and most importantly, his mom.

More than 20,000 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer across the country each year. Polumbus said it is his mission to make sure others don't have to go through what his mom did.

"After watching my mom battle with ovarian cancer, I believe this must change before others lose their mothers, wives, sisters or daughters," he said.

Polumbus, who now hosts a sports talk radio show on 104.3 The Fan, told listeners he hopes to make the ride an annual event.
