Next year, Virginia Beach may be gaining a German-style restaurant and bar with over 400 beer options! I can already smell the success.

Virginia Beach loves beer -- just look at all the bars at the oceanfront and on Shore Drive. As you drive along the strips, you can expect to see a bar on almost every corner. Whether it be a seafood place or a Mexican restaurant, you're pretty much guaranteed to find a place to have a drink.

Olde Town Portsmouth is home to The Bier Garden, a German-style restaurant with a lot of success and a lot of beer, along with traditional Bavarian cuisine. For 21 years, two generations of the Osfolk Family have been running the restaurant, and now they are planning to expand to the Great Neck area of Virginia Beach next year. The new location will be at 2272 W. Great Neck Road, on the corner of Shore Drive and N. Great Neck Road.

The Bier Garden features 23 taps and over 400 beer selections, giving plenty of opportunity to widen your taste options (and thus increase your chances of finding your new favorite beer!). If you're a beer connoisseur, this is the place to go.

Locals of Hampton Roads took to Twitter to express their excitement:

According to The Virginian-Pilot, the bar sold more Aventinus doppelbock than any other bar in the world over the course of two decades. That's really impressive! And for those who dislike beer, The Bier Garden also offers a large selection of other drinks, such as wine, cocktails, hot drinks (like Irish coffee), and spirits.

The new location will be run by the Osfolk family's younger generations, and they expect to mimic Portsmouth's theme, keeping the family tradition alive. Coming in around 5,000 square feet, the new location is expected to seat 100 people and will be decorated like a festival hall, featuring tarps and a large draped blue and white checkered flag. It will feel as though you're actually in Germany visiting a real-life "festhaus"!

The Osfolk family is excited to be expanding and believe they've chosen a great location for their expansion.
