The rescue pup gives back to the place that helped him find his "fur-ever home."

"A very good boy" moved into The White House this week, and while he doesn't like to talk policy, he does like tennis balls and doggie ice cream.

On January 17, 2021, a few days before his owner's inauguration, Major Biden was the star of his very own indoguration (are you reading this, Oxford Word of the Year?). The virtual event, which was hosted by Jill Martin of the Today show, drew over 7,000 attendees, now has over 87,000 views on YouTube, and raised over $200,000 for the Delaware Humane Association.

On their Facebook page, they congratulated Major: "Let’s give a round of apaws to the first-ever shelter pup to become First Dog."

The Bidens adopted Major from the Delaware Humane Association in 2018, and he is now the first rescue dog in The White House. They have one other dog, Champ Biden, who is also "a very Good Boy," but has done this whole political rigamarole before, having joined the Biden family in 2008. Both Major and Champ are featured in a new children's book, "Champ and Major: First Dogs," by Joy McCullough, in which Champ proudly shows his new little brother around The White House.

If you missed the indoguration, you can watch it here. It's a breezy 22 minutes, full of adoptable shelter pets, devastatingly cute videos, and photos of Major as a puppy, and many, many, many dog puns. (10/10 voting for the pun "Wags to riches" for my next president.) If you'd like to donate to the Delaware Humane Association to help dogs like Major find a loving home, you can donate here or here. The window for donations is always open, and who knows, you might even be helping the next presidential pet find their family!

Did you watch the indoguration? Which dog would you adopt? Let us know and share your pictures in the comments.
