Robert Downey Sr., 85, has died. Father to Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr., the renowned filmmaker lost his 5-year battle with Parkinson's. His wife, Rosemary Rogers, was by her husband's side when he passed.
Best known as the director of Putney Swope, Downey worked as both an actor and a director from the early 1950s to 2011, when he appeared in his final film, Tower Heist.
In a tribute to his father, Robert Downey Jr. wrote the following:
Downey is survived by his son, Robert Downey Jr.; his daughter, Allyson; and his wife, Rosemary.
