Seacrets is hosting the Shore Craft Beer Fest: Love on Tap festival on February 24, promising a day of great local beer and not one, but two bands simultaneously!
Whether you're a local or a tourist, Seacrets is the place to be. Seacrets calls itself "Jamaica, USA" and they are not kidding. During the tourist season, Seacrets tends to be filled with 20-somethings in town for the weekend. However, Seacrets has always worked hard to make sure that locals would always feel welcome at their bar. The Shore Craft Beer Fest is one of the ways that Seacrets tries to cater to the local community. This is the third year that the Shore Craft Beer Fest: Love on Tap festival has run. There are typically different themed Shore Craft Beer Festivals that run through out the year. For example, the theme in late October was OCtoberfest. The Love on Tap festival has a pretty simple concept: you go to Seacrets and you get to try a bunch of great local beers and have a party with your neighbors. Don't need to twist my arm to get there ... The Shore Craft Beer Festival takes place on February 24 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. There is a VIP hour which will let you get in an hour early (more on that later).
Ticketholders who are 21 and over will get to sample at least two beers from 14 different local brewers. Do not forget your ID, otherwise you will be turned away. Participants will get unlimited free tastings (please drink responsibly) and if you really like something you've tried, you can purchase it on tap. A lot of the beers will be brewed especially for the Shore Craft Beer Fair, never to be brewed again.
Participants will get to enjoy great live music at two different bars (yes, two bands playing at once), talk to the local brewers, and go home with a commemorative pint glass (for the first 800 people through the door).
Basic general admission tickets start at $35. VIP tickets get you in an hour early at noon and include a commemorative t-shirt for just $15 more ($50 total). If you are going to be the designated driver, a $10 DD ticket gets you unlimited soda refills while you're at the event, but no free beer samples. You can purchase your tickets here. Be sure to purchase your tickets ahead of time because they will sell out, especially the VIP tickets.
Seacrets and the Festival are pitching this as a perfect opportunity for a beer-cation. If you have a house in Ocean City or know someone who does, this is a great chance to get in on the off-season and still enjoy Seacrets. Hotel options are also available and being off-season, will likely be extremely affordable.
This is definitely one of the bigger off-season parties in Ocean City. A lot of the town closes down for the winter, but this is an excellent opportunity to get out and enjoy some great craft beer!
