Fire and fun this First Friday!

The Town of Silverthorne will light the night with a community bonfire in a fiery farewell to winter for its First Friday event on March 1. While the spring equinox on March 20 is still weeks away, Silverthorne is ushering in its inevitable arrival with a play on the Burning Man festival. Like the desert extravaganza, art will be the main feature in the form of a 20-foot-tall wooden snowman constructed as the centerpiece of the fire.

However, the snowman will not be burning alone. The fire will be fueled by trees from Silverthorne’s Christmas tree drop off. And the community can stay fueled with complimentary hot chocolate and apple cider provided by Summit Sky Ranch. This event will also feature live art by Aaron Golbeck and music by DJ CYN.

Silverthorne’s First Fridays’ are free, family-friendly events and surround a theme to enrich and engage the whole community. These events have already been big hits this year from January’s Snow Machine Film Festival and February's Noche de Candela: Night of Light. This Friday’s event is set to continue its success and community fun.

However, spring will likely take its time to make its appearance, as snow is predicted for this Friday. So, as we wait for spring, let’s first appreciate all that winter has given us, look forward to the new beginnings spring brings, and get warm by the bonfire.

When: Friday, March 1, 5-8 p.m.
