For so many in Colorado, the last year has been a fight to keep bills paid, a roof over their heads, and food on the table. Now, with the holidays coming up, figuring out how to make Christmas merry this year is going to be a lot for everyone. Luckily, local and national organizations are working very hard to provide assistance and spread joy where it's needed.

For families who need assistance, right now is the time to get applications in and reach out to organizations before the holidays. Below is a breakdown of some organizations in Colorado that are ready to help make sure the holiday season is merry and bright for everyone.

WeeCycle Holiday Toy Mobile

The WeeCycle Holiday Toy Mobile is looking to help parents and guardians by giving away new and gently used toys. The local nonprofit has a bus outfitted as a toy mobile and has been bringing it to various locations around Denver. The toy mobile will be running through December, and the schedule of where it will be is posted on the organization’s Facebook and Instagram.

WeeCycle recycles used baby gear and collects new items all year long to provide to families who are experiencing hardships. They have handed out over 20,000 diapers every week to needy families over the last 8 months. WeeCycle is accepting donations, please check the website and social media to learn how you can help or become a Toy Mobile sponsor.

Dolls for Daughters & Toys for Boys Toy Shop

Sponsored by local nonprofit kenzi’s causes, this will be the 13th year that the toy drive has assisted low-income Colorado families during the holidays. The event is held at the beginning of December at five different locations, registration is required. The link for that will go live December 1 on kenzi’s causes website and Facebook. 

Mile High United Way

Mile High United Way has programs to help beyond gifts. They have connections to organizations that will help with getting a tree, meals, gifts, and more. Go to the website 211colorado.org to get information. There are links to Christmas meal assistance, gifts programs, holiday adoption programs, and Christmas trees in most areas of the state. 

Operation Santa Clause

Operation Santa Clause has been giving to the Colorado community for 63 years and provides food and toys to families in the Front Range area at Christmas. Delivery is planned for December 17. Head over to the website to learn more.

Toys for Tots

Marine Toys for Tots organizes a toy drive every year, and this year is no different. Check the website to see what they are doing in your area this year, as well as links to other resources they work with.
