The golf course was built in 1998 on part of a large working cattle ranch owned by Ronald L. Haynes, who passed away in 2003. Haynes formed the Haynes Family Limited Partnership, which is currently selling the property. It's a rural, public course and has been a big part of the community, hosting many professional golfing events and qualifiers, as well as high school golf championships, over the years.

Currently, membership will cost about $2,000 per year without carts, and just over $2,500 with golf carts. Non-members can play the full 18-hole course for between $25 and $35.

Spring Valley Golf Club was sold in 2003 to Running Creek Golf LLC and underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation from 2003 to 2005. It was then re-acquired by the Haynes family in 2010, according to agent Matt Call. The family no longer lives in the area and wants to allow the property to go under new ownership. According to Call, there are several interested parties, as this is quite a deal on a property of this type.
