An all-in-one silicone placemat and plate for infants and toddlers alike!

Anyone who has small children knows that mealtime can be a nightmare. Whether your kid is a "good eater" or not, the mess is undeniable. For a long time, we just sat food randomly on my son's high chair plate and let him go wild. I eventually realized we needed a better solution. Enter The Mini Mat by ezpz.

This adorable silicone, one-piece placemat and plate contains the mess for you. It suctions to the table, has three compartments for food, and is lightweight enough to travel with. It's also dishwasher and microwave-safe. Score!

Amazon currently sells the smiley face mat in blue, coral, gray, and lime for $19.99. If you prefer more muted colors, ezpz sells it in sage, blush, pewter, aqua, and slate as well. It's recommended for children ages 6 months and up, and personally I don't foresee an age limit.

I will say the compartments are fairly small though, so if your child is a big eater, you will have to provide seconds (or thirds!). They also sell The Happy Mat, which is geared towards kids 18 months and up, since it's larger. It's very similar, but more of a full-size dmat that would work well on a table, versus a high chair. Since we recently transitioned my son to a booster seat at our table, I'm considering The Happy Mat myself. It's 24.99, so not too much of a price difference.

While overall I love The Mini Mat, I will say it doesn't exactly suction to the table well. If you have an infant or toddler who is in the "throwing everything" stage, you may want to wait until they're out of it. I'm also aware that it's pretty expensive for what's essentially a plate, but I think it's something that will stand up over repeated use, and the fact that you can throw it in its reusable bag and toss it in your diaper bag for on-the-go is pretty sweet.
