Participants can run to raise money for a good cause!

While the Adams County Fair in Colorado won't return until 2021, fans of its traditional Funnel Cake 5K still have a chance to get their running in. 

The fair has brought in huge crowds during its storied 115-year history. For more than a century, it's earned a local reputation for being the summertime event in Adams County. It's been a host to countless attractions over the years, ranging from tractor races to carnival rides, to rodeos and everything in-between. There have also been tons of music acts, with the popular country act Midland as a recent headliner. 

Although the fair won't be returning this year, fans of its 5K will be happy to learn that they can still race to raise money for a good cause. Granted, a lot of us are grumbly at the thought of running 5 kilometers at once after a few months of quarantine snacking, but this is a great way to support an Adams County charity (and get a good workout in too!)

The fair's newly renamed Foster Care 5K is now a digital event that can be completed at any time between August 5 and September 1. Even though the event is online, you should still expect to get plenty of running in. Instead of running at a single course, participants are free to pick any trail or running path that they want! After getting in all five kilometers of running (or limping if you've been having as much Ben & Jerry's as we have), you'll be able to upload your time to receive a Foster Care 5K t-shirt by mail. 

It costs $10 to register. All entries and donations will go to help the Adams County Foster Care Program. This program provides a vital service for some of the most vulnerable members of society, and donations help ensure that it has the resources required to do the most good.
